“Songs for Angus” is a multimedia children’s book about a calico cat and his adventures. This colourful book comes with a bonus DVD of the narration, animation, story presentation and music videos for children 3 to 8 years of age, not forgetting cat lovers!
How the Story Came to Be…
In 2011, Colleen Bleazard had an inspiration of writing a few songs about her adorable cat with the intention of creating a music video for YouTube. One weekend whilst camping out in the bush she wrote half a dozen.
Soon after it was off to Caravan Record’s studio to develop the sound track of three songs, “Crazy, Crazy Mad Cat”, “Flop Stretch Roll” and “Seriously”. Towards the end of that year, an idea of writing a book to accompany the three songs start to emerge and so Colleen enrolled an on line writers workshop with Andrew Jobling and found herself an illustrator Roxanne King.
Whilst touring Western Australia in 2012, Colleen completed the book, but the development of the music video was now becoming a full narrative version with acting and movement. This prompted Colleen to enrol as a part time student at Hillsong Leadership College in their TV and Media stream in the beginning of 2013. Fast-forward to autumn 2014 – final edits to the book layout and DVD footage were made; and in May of that year, the book was ready to send to prospective publishers.
